One of the best places to find cool, unique pieces is at the thrift store. Thrift shopping is great if you're on a budget, and also if you want pieces that not everybody will have. But it can also be frustrating.

Thrift stores are crowded and cluttered; so, it can be hard to find what you're looking for. To avoid some of the frustrations that come along with thrift shopping, here are some of the best tips and tricks for poppin' tags at the thrift shop.

Thrifting tips:

1. Make sure you have time and patience: There's so much stuff and it's not always sorted very well, so you need to have the time and patience to go through things! Finding what you want may take time. Don't try to rush -- being patient will really help you get the most out of your trip. 

2. Have an idea of what you're looking for before you go: Because there is so much stuff at thrift shops, it can get a bit overwhelming. Knowing what you're looking for can really help cut out some of the clutter, and narrow down your search. 

3. Go through everything (even the boy's or men's sections): This might seem a bit weird, but you can find great pieces in unexpected places. If you find an item you love, but it doesn't have the right fit, you can make it your own/DIY it. For example, if a shirt is too long just cut it down, and make it a crop top. Don't exclude anything, you never know what little gems you might find!

4. Don't buy something just because it's cheap: Seriously, having too much clutter in your closet is not cool. Thrift shops can be great, but it can also make you acquire a lot of junk. It's easy to buy a bunch of random things just because they're cheap, but fight the urge. Make sure you really think through your purchases, and are confident you really love each piece. This will keep you from having regrets later.
